Akira Film Script: Vibrations

SoundGhost is proud to present Vibrations, the latest release from Akira Film Script, the multi-genre ambient project of musician and composer Ryan Watts. Vibrations captures Watts’s signature blend of lowercase recordings, tape-worn texture, and healing tones drawn from three decades of collected sound.

Vibrations stands as a meditative, transcendent journey, an ever-growing archive of field recordings, proprietary samples, hardware oddities, and happy accidents reshaped into something new. With over 30 years steeped in electronic music, Watts brings a searching, intuitive approach to sound design. Vibrations was sparked by his acquisition of the Teenage Engineering OP-1 field, whose onboard sampler let him revisit and curate decades of recorded oddities: ghosted notes, documents from busted samplers, and sounds caught somewhere between synthesis and life. These rediscovered fragments inspired the album’s healing, cosmic aesthetic.

Many of the pieces on Vibrations began around a single healing tone or frequency before unfolding into drones, pads, leads, and ghostly, unintentional instruments. The album embraces feeling over precision, allowing detuned, morphed, and reprocessed sounds to shape its emotional sweep. Mastering by Taylor Deupree at 12k brings a final sense of balance and cohesion to the album.
