Thomas Trueman: Aeons Apart
‘Aeons Apart’ is a deeply personal and immersive exploration of sound, blending ethereal ambient textures with intimate acoustic guitar and subtle downtempo influences.
Thomas Trueman, known for his work in electronic and ambient music, takes a reflective approach on this album, returning to his roots with the acoustic guitar – an instrument that originally sparked his musical journey. Throughout the record, the guitar takes on a vocal-like presence, weaving through layers of atmospheric production, experimental sampling, and hypnotic sonic landscapes.
“At first, my modern production techniques were at odds with the purity of just writing on the guitar,” says Trueman. “The two worlds felt ‘Aeons Apart.’ But as I explored the intersection of organic instrumentation and digital processing, the album began to take shape in a way that felt both fresh and deeply personal.”
Sonically, Aeons Apart balances the experimental with the familiar. It showcases Trueman’s fascination with sound manipulation—stretching, re-pitching, and reshaping organic elements into something entirely new. Granular processing, field recordings, and tape-emulated textures contribute to the album’s rich, evocative character.
