A Sonic Archive
A study in electronic music through the decades, Ishkur pulls fragments from over 120 years of recorded sound, from Experimental Audio and Musique Concrète to Ambient, IDM, Noise and Techno. Inside, you’ll find leads, keys, pads, basses, effects and a collection of unusual vocoder patches, alongside amp models designed to bring a softer, more reactive character to field recordings, all expertly designed by Akira Film Script.
Some sounds are made to be played conventionally. Others are deliberately strange. One vocoder patch can be bowed with your hand across the built-in microphone, or with a traditional bow. The amp models are tuned towards lowercase dynamics: sensitive, responsive and ready to turn tiny sounds into something much larger. Try using them to craft experimental field recordings and foley.
The presets were originally created for Akira Film Script albums, collaborations and remixes, then collected here as a kind of sonic archive. Expect traces of the 70s, 80s, 90s and 00s, filtered through modern sound design and the particular limitations of the OP-1 Field.
Nostalgia, distortion, experimentation and texture, packed into your small machine. Use the sounds as they are, or take them somewhere completely unexpected.
PLEASE NOTE: The included amp sim presets are designed for experimentation with the OP-1 Field’s built-in microphone, with the input driven intentionally loud for experimenting with creating textual content from live audio.
If the built-in microphone and speaker are both active, this can cause loud feedback. We recommend plugging in headphones when using these presets to prevent unwanted feedback and keep the experience under control.
