Inspiring LoFi Curiosities
Esoteric Beats is a leftfield approach to Lo-Fi, featuring intricate and chilled melodics, foley-infused beats and bold textures designed to be dropped into your track for immediate inspiration. Spiralling keys ratchet between notes, atmospheric loops bounce between past and present, and synth melodics tumble over each other to form interesting new ideas. Just like the design philosophy behind the design of the pack, Esoteric Beats is a pack calling out to be experimented with and encourages you to chop, stretch and bend these experimental loops to craft your own wild melodic structures. Even with the experimental philosophy, the pack is still grounded in a lo-fi aesthetic with a useful selection of laid-back organic beats and mellow keys loops just waiting to be chopped up. The experimental melodic structures are also perfect for anyone making downtempo, ambient, hip hop, electronic or anything in-between. Bring out your inner vinyl crate digger and see what you can find and create.
My goal with this pack was to create interesting loops that can be dragged and dropped into a daw for immediate use, but also unique pieces of audio that can be chopped and stretched to create experimental musical collages. The main instruments I used were OP-1, Digitone, Serum, and the Norns scripts Fall, Orgn, and MX.Synths. These instruments were processed with various plugins including Texturize, Oota, Digitalis, Spectral Conquest, Inner Ocean 4trak, and Samsara to name a few. Eurorack modules were also used including Morphagene and Magneto, as well as the Ahase Bliss Habit pedal and the Norns scripts Rpls, Fall, Barcode, Compass, Wrms, and Otis. All of the kick one shots were created from scratch using different synths, and the rest of the one shots were recorded using items in my studio and then processed.
